Futties SBC Coman Review

There are borderline endless options in FUT right now.  Ridiculous Futties options, cheaper fodder for SBCs and a growing list of cards that have plummeted in price.  For the first weekend in forever, I missed the ability to play and so it was a combination of Div One Rivals and FUT qualifications that made up the 15 matches for this review.  On one hand I have never collectively played more difficult competition than this review, on the other, opponents were less likely to quit which gave more minutes for goals and assists during the review.  At the time of completing Kingsley Coman, it was a no brainer, with the cheapest 96 fodder at 100k you couldn’t go wrong.   This has of course changed slightly, but this review very quickly turned from “nothing to lose” into an “everything to gain.”  Playing Coman as the striker and RAM in my 4-2-2-2 formation meant a lot of opportunities to impress.  The application of the MARKSMAN chemistry style added the ammunition to fire the Frenchman forward into a challenging lineup of matches.  Coman was the blistering pace all weekend long in the following squad:

Starting Formation:

In-game Formation:

Overall

Rating: 9/10
Pace Rating: 10/10
Dribbling Rating: 10/10
Shooting Rating: 9.5/10
Passing Rating: 9/10
Physical Rating: 9/10
Defending Rating: N/A

While Coman certainly benefited from the extra minutes in certain matches, 18 goals and 13 assists in 15 matches are still an excellent return.  It wasn’t just the 2.0 goal contributions per match that got me, but the dominating way in which this card came to those totals.  It didn’t matter whether Coman was central or down the wing, his impact was immediate and it often resulted in direct goal contributions.

Main Statistics - Pace

Pace Rating: 10/10

99 ACCELERATION & 99 SPRINT SPEED cards are basically a staple of every promo card from now until FIFA 23… it is undeniable that cards are simply maxed out at this point.  Every FUT Manager can name you numerous “99 PACE” cards that simply do not feel that way, but I am not sure how many can name players that are 99 PACE and feel beyond that. Kinsley Coman is that card.  It was staggering how much quicker he felt off the jump than the majority of cards in my squad, and even more impressive how much his top end speed seemed to cause opponents headaches.  I am not sure if this is one of those classic “nerfed in a week” cards that seems to light the world on fire and then disappear at a moment's notice… but what I do know is, that this card is notably rapid and in some cases, defenders were not even close to matching him.

Main Attribute - 4 STAR / 4 STAR

Shooting Rating: 9.5/10
Passing Rating: 9/10
Dribbling: 10/10
Weak Foot:
★★★★
Skills: ★★★★
Traits: Finesse Shot, FlairWeak

There is not going to be a lot left to talk about with this card after running through this section and what was a very impressive overall performance.  But when you look at the 99 FINISHING, 99 SHOT POWER, 99 LONG SHOTS & 95 VOLLEYS it doesn’t take much to understand why.  Honestly, the 9.5/10 comes down to a few missed left footed shots that really stuck out in my mind and should have been a sure thing even with a slight imperfection in his weak foot.  The passing was a similar experience… Where you are expecting perfection, witnessing quality, and reaping the rewards from the 97 PASSING, 98 VISION & 96 CROSSING… Yet small moments make you immediately turn to cards that simply don’t make certain errors when passing, eliminating a perfect rating.

The one area where I could not even split the smallest hairs with Coman came in the dribbling though.  This card has pixelated magnets in his boots and responds incredibly to any form of left stick movement.  The MARKSMAN is “helping” but in reality, this card is just built for FIFA.  The unique body type, blistering pace, and near perfect dribbling statistics combine for a trifecta of brilliance that was quite enjoyable to use.

Value/Coins & Good vs. Bad

Value/Coins Rating: 5/5
Good vs Bad Rating: 5/5

There are no brainers, and then there is this card at 95k.  I previously mentioned that when I completed Coman he was the cheapest 96 around, but even now, especially with the access to fodder, not much has changed in my mind.  However, if you want to strictly speak on the quality of the card alone… I would have gone with a 5/5 up to 250k for this card.  The performances this card put together would justify a starting role in my squad, and if not certainly a significant bench role for me moving forward.

There is no downside to this card.  An excellent place to dump extra fodder and a fantastic card in return.  It would be a disservice not to quickly add that the 180cm | 5’11 frame with the 97 PHYSICAL boost was a solid combination that really adds to the versatility of what you want to do with this card.  The possibilities in attack are endless and I strongly believe that the card could benefit a wide range of playstyles.

Closing Words

Easy review to complete based on how solid this card was across the board.  The price is right and the card is nice.  I do think this is one of those cards that will be left standing in two months when the game has completely run its course.  It feels special, yet costs little, and is a perfect storm for a legendary SBC.  Of course with the FIFA cycle in its final stage, it will never quite get the hype it should… But I certainly tried my best with this review.  Fantastic card.  Fantastic fun.  Hoping you are safe and well.  Cheers for reading.
